Vacation wrap-up

I’ve got an iPhone 4S now and I have to say, I absolutely adore it. The camera especially, it takes fantastic pictures. I think it will really increase the amount of food blogging I do here, which is awesome. I am loving everything about the phone except for autocorrect. I told a friend in a text that I needed ‘forest time’. I don’t even remember what I was talking about but I know I wasn’t trying to go out and be Snow White… funny though!

Baked apples

By the way, these were really good and the recipe can be found here.

My baby

My little blond boy and his ridiculous eyelashes and his messy face.

Showing off new pajamas

This one was in pretty low light and without a flash, still came out better than my Droid did with its flash.

Running errands

And I LOVE the front facing camera, I don’t have to take 30 self portraits to get one to come out right!

So, new phone: good. School is going great except that I have a math placement test I need to do this week… I actually needed to do it last week but I’m a procrastinator and also I am scared and psyching myself out. I hate math. And I really need to get into a certain math class. EEP.

We have been feasting on leftover turkey and all the sides for days and I gotta say- I’m not sick of it yet. And by feasting, I mean stuffing myself at every meal and usually grazing in between. However, the five pounds I’ve packed on this week are telling me it’s time to knock that crap off and get back to my small, frequent meals- and to get serious about the workouts again… before I pop out of my jeans!  I did P90X Kenpo X today and it was very hard and my butt is sore already. I wonder if Tim would massage my butt if I ask. (Come on, who’d pass up THAT opportunity?!)

It’s been really nice to have Tim and the kids home for the last four days, we have spent the days in our pajamas, doing crafty things, playing games, and just hanging out and doing nothing. Tomorrow, it’s back to the grind for all of us except Tim, who is still on vacation. I am ready. While it’s been fun and relaxing, I am going a bit stir crazy, as are the kids. We’re ready to re-enter regular life I suppose.

Hailey's big kid bike

I have some good recipes coming up, I promise. I’ve just been so sick that I haven’t wanted to cook anything! I am fairly sure it’s bronchitis. *cough, hack* Figures, just when it starts to get nice out, I get sick. WAAH.

So, guess who got a big kid bike? Ok, let me rant about something for one second here. Naturally, she was drawn to the Barbie bike and the princess bike and the Hello Kitty bike- which, sure, they were all super cute, I can understand that. But seriously, $20 more for a picture of a branded character? Oh hell no. My poor, deprived child got the boring no-character cheapest bike from Wal-Mart.  And then to appease her we stuck a princess basket on the front. Surely this is the type of thing that she’ll be complaining about to her psychiatrist when she’s 30- at least you’d think so from the meltdown in the store when we said no to the $70 Cinderella bike. I think she recovered nicely, she looks pretty happy on there doesn’t she?

Look at her go! What, you don’t wear normally cowboy boots to ride your bike? Oh. Well…

It’s ok because she had some yard work to do with her dad afterward. What, you don’t normally wear a helmet for yard work? Oh. Well, I tried. She’s just weird.

We are so ready for summer!!!

Now, all we need is for the snow to STOP and the hot weather to START!

Our shopping trip to Reno was a pretty big success! I am pleased. The kids actually behaved themselves in the car, there was no crying or screaming or peeing or barfing. A trip without barfing is always a good thing for us (Hailey gets carsick. Thank God for Dramamine!!) We bought tons of clothes and now I’ve got a $100 of Gymbucks to spend later this week. Yay! Summer shopping is pretty much done. WHEW! Now… if everyone could just hold off on growth spurts till September…

Pretty cute.

Watching for dad to come home from night shift

I sat down to do a blog but apparently now I don’t have time. Tim is buying a new truck today and we have to go to the dealership in a couple minutes to pick it up before they close! So for now I will leave you with an adorable picture I took with my phone one morning a few weeks ago.

Why, hello there.

I’m home! I’ve actually been home since Friday night but haven’t had time and/or motivation to blog yet. Yesterday pretty much all I wanted to do was sleep- not that I got to do that. Nooo. Instead, I did 500 loads of laundry and watched movies all day long. That’s the next best thing, right?

Anyway, we had a really good time.

Tuesday was spent driving and flying alllll day.

On Wednesday my mom, granny, Zelda (my great-grandma) and I drove from Benson (where my gma and g-gma live) to Sierra Vista (where my great-aunt lives) for a big family turkey dinner. My mom’s cousins Allesa, Janet, and Dana had all come in for the dinner too. It was so much fun! The best food ever, of course (Allesa is an awesome cook, she’s even writing a cookbook). And we just sat and talked and laughed and laughed for hours. It was wonderful. We laughed so much that Zelda couldn’t fall asleep at the table… heh.

On Wednesday evening, Zelda handed over her photo albums and we sat and ate dessert at my granny’s and went through those albums. They were so neat! She had pictures back from the 1920′s and maybe even earlier (most were not dated). I took pictures of pictures that actually didn’t come out too bad.

On Thursday, we went to Tombstone (you know, shootout at the OK Corrall, Wyatt Earp, etc? I’m sure you’ve seen the movie…). We met up with my mom’s cousins and aunt and uncle there too. That was really fun. I’m a total nerd and I love that kind of stuff.

Then Friday, we got to fly and drive all day again.

I took pictures the whole time but have not edited those yet. I just couldn’t wait to get my hands on the old pictures of pictures from Zelda’s album! There are quite a few, so I won’t post them all here but if you want to check them out, visit my facebook.

My mom at 6 months old. Awww!

My great-grandma Zelda, in 1956. (I don’t know what/where the Topaz Lodge is.)

My granny as a kid… I don’t know how old she was here.

My grandma and grandpa.

The back of this photo listed the man on the far left and the woman in the middle as ‘grandfather and grandmother Davenport’. I assume my great-grandma wrote that? So these would be my great-great-great grandparents. !!! (Grandmother Davenport reminds me of someone…)
