This just happened within the last 5 minutes- Keegan slept in today and he just woke up. When he first wakes up, he just ‘talks’ to himself for quite a while before he gets upset. We usually let him sit in there and talk to himself and go get him when he first starts getting mad. Well, instead, Hailey burst in there just now when she heard him making sounds. He made the happiest squeal sound and Hailey ran out and exclaimed “He just made a really cute face at me!” and then ran back in. I love those two so much! (no matter how frustrated I get with them sometimes!) __________________
I have been neglecting my diet blog and I think I’m finally ready to hop in there again, but with a new view to dieting. So if you are interested in that at all, check in over there! And I totally don’t blame you if you’re all like “*yawn* WHO CARES?” because I re-read that blog sometimes and I’m like “GEEZ Rachel STFU”. I was thinking of deleting it altogether but I think instead I’ll just try taking it in a slightly different direction. __________________
Oh and also, I encourage, if you are a new reader, leave me a comment so we can be friends!! Please? I’m nice, I promise.
I was in the mood to sew today. I made two throw pillows for my living room (one still needs to be stitched shut), a pillow and blanket for Hailey’s doll, and a dress and head scarf for Hailey. My back always hurts after I sew, I guess I need to work on my posture.
Here is the unwilling model in her dress. It was so easy to make! Also, you can see my orange pillow I made today on the floor and the green one on the couch that I made a few days ago. Oh, and you can see our new couch! We haven’t started painting yet but right above Hailey’s head, you can sort of see one of the colors on the wall that I didn’t like.
A little happier now with her scarf on her head! And Keegan in the doll stroller. Oh and in the upper left corner, you can see a wee little bit of my new dryer, awww! (If we ever buy this place, I want to add on a laundry room!!)
You know what makes my blood boil? The word “NO”. Hailey is three and a half and therefore deeply in the “no” stage. Every. single. thing. we ask her to do, her answer is “no”. Even if she is actually doing what we ask, she still says no! Usually she doesn’t do what was asked though, while saying no. Also, she talks non-stop. And you can’t just give generic answers, or she will keep on repeating the same thing over and over again until your head explodes. I cannot wait for kindergarten.
I don’t want Keegan to ever be that age. Can’t I freeze him at one and a half? It’s the perfect age, he’s all small and cuddly and can only say a few words. He can say no but he only uses it as an answer to “Did you poop?”
Item number one (which is actually a continuation of my last post’s item number two.): Tim’s surgery is scheduled! The fact that the insurance knew nothing of it this morning and then had it authorized by this afternoon leads me to believe that the doctor’s office never even tried to get authorization until today. Splendid. ANYWAY- the surgery will be March 2nd. I am not sure yet of the time, I assume ass-early in the morning. Which brings me to…
Item number two: My uncle is getting married March 1st. On Catalina Island. My parents are going to it. This means that they will not be home until 9:00 PM at the earliest on Monday, March 2nd. See where I am going with this? What do I do with my kids for Tim’s surgery? I am going to ask a friend if she will keep Hailey for the day, and another friend already offered to let Hailey spend the night at her house. I am not thrilled with the prospect of taking Keegan with me but I have a feeling he’ll freak out if I leave him with anyone but my parents. Must figure out what to do with this situation.
Item number three: It’s about damn time they got it scheduled because the time Tim has to take off afterward will bring him to the end of his sick and vacation time. Cutting it close! Three weeks after the surgery, he should be able to return for light duty. Hooray! I love him very much but I am fricking sick of him.
Item number four: I don’t know if I’ve ever addressed this here. I cloth diapered Hailey from about 6 months to right before potty training and I started Keegan out in cloth diapers. But, I have to confess, I quit cloth diapering a while back. Probably shortly before he turned one. Now.. I love cloth diapering and I love the environment and cloth diapering IS awesome on the budget, but… well, let me just see if I can make you understand my train of thought here. Keegan eats more than a three year old. And he only weighs 21 pounds. He’s always eaten a lot and weighed a little. Thus, there is much waste and it comes out many many times a day. Three at the very least, eight at the most. And he does not believe in solid poops apparently. You find me someone dedicated enough to not mind scraping/rinsing eight poopy diapers off into the toilet a day. So… there you have it. Keegan is a disposable diaper man these days. Good on the budget? Not so much. Good on the gag reflex? Certainly!
THE END. (Chatty today, huh?)
Item number one: We got our new dryer this morning and I love it so much. I would make out with it if it weren’t so cold. It’s so quiet! The first load is in there now, I guess I should save my gushing till I know if it dries good.
Item number two: We’ve been waiting on insurance pre-auth for Tim’s surgery. I called the insurance company today to see what was taking so damn long. OH GUESS WHAT?!?!?! The surgeon’s office has not even requested authorization yet. HOORAY because we have infinite sick and vacation time. Seriously. I said some really bad words.
Item number three: Diet. I have been failing on that front. For example, dinner last night…

Homemade pizza and chocolate cake with Irish Cream buttercream frosting. NAUGHTY.
Item number four:
 LOL.
Hailey convinced my parents and Tim to play Pretty Pretty Princess with her a couple nights ago. Naturally I snuck the camera out. Unfortunately for me, it’s only a four player game, so I didn’t get to play along this time. Awww. But I did get to do all the dinner dishes… Hm. Maybe I would have been better off being a Pretty Pretty Princess.
Item number five: We don’t let the kids eat or drink while sitting on our new couch or recliner. They get to sit on Hailey’s little Cinderella couch for snacks and it’s super cute to see their two little bums smooshed together on that teeny couch!

OK that’s really about it for now, since Keegan has just pooped. Diaper time!
